At the end of May the Space Industry Forum 2018 was held, the most important event for Polish companies and institutions involved in the development of the local space sector.
The event on the 24th of May was opened by representatives of ministries and institutions directly involved in the development of this sector: Minister of Entrepreneurship and Technology – Jadwiga Emilewicz, Barbara Mikołajek Zielińska of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and Dariusz Śliwowski, vice-president of the Industrial Development Agency. Next to the implementations of the Polish Space Strategy, the presentation of the new National Space Programme was given by dr Grzegorz Brona, the new director of the Polish Space Agency.
In the second part of the conference special guests spoke on planned ESA missions and ESO programs, which can become an opportunity for Polish companies and the possibilities of technology transfer, especially in context of the creation of the first Polish European Space Agency Business Incubation Center.
The conference finished with a thematic bloc on innovation and cooperation examples in the space industry. It was possible to listen to representatives of largest European space companies and to learn about cooperation possibilities with ESA, EU and other commercial programs.
The conference also featured the largest Polish exhibition of the local space industry and supporting entities, which offered the possibility for direct discussion about their projects. In the exhibition companies presented their innovative projects in such fields as: mechanics, electronics, optoelectronics, programming, data analysis, satellite navigation and Earth observation and start-up support.
– The second edition of our Forum was a great occasion to discuss the current potential of the Polish space industry and to use current possibilities for the development of SMEs in this area – said Paweł Wojtkiewicz, President of the Polish Space Industry Association. – The first edition in 2016 gathered 400 participants, 34 exhibitors and several media. It was highly rated among sector representatives, who appreciated the high level of the conference and discussion possibilities for the most important space industry stakeholders – added Wojtkiewicz.
The event was supported by honorary patronage by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, National Point of Contact for European Union Research Projects and the Polish Space Agency. The event took place under patronage of the European Commission within Industry Day 2018 activities.
The event was organized by the Polish Space Industry Association, which lists companies and entities actively involved in the Polish space sector and the Industrial Development Agency – an entity actively supporting entities investing in the Polish space industry.
