On the 10th of December 2013,the ESNC Czech Challenge Awards Ceremony was held at the Czech Ministry of Transport in Prague. This event was related to some Kosmonauta.net activities.

The best ideas submitted to the Czech European Satellite Navigation Competition 2013 contest were presented at the event. The finalists were also awarded. Kosmonauta.net scored the fourth place in this competition and our representative received a prize.

Apart from representatives of the Czech Ministry of Transport, present were also the invited guests: Thorsten Rudolph from Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen, Omar Valdes Solorzano from the European GNSS Agency (GSA) and representatives of the Czech BIC R&D company, which awarDed the prizes to the winners.

At the event the most successful Czech project from last year was presented. The GINA Software company, which won the 2012 edition, designed an application which supports emergency responses through fast data transfer.

The most successful ideas from this year’s edition presented next. Among the winners were concepts answering to some logistic issues (MathLogistics from the Czech Center for Science and Society), agriculture and environment protection (ENERGOFARM Wirelessinfo), information services (Gluten-free maps – Radovan Kramar), augmented reality for emergency responses (MedView AR from Kosmonauta.net) and entertainment (Prague AR Game – Be Interactive).

The first place was granted to Prague AR game, which uses smartphones, augmented reality and telemetric satellite data. It is designed for tourists who visit Prague and by using smartphones can “travel back in time” to discover an alchemical secret. The Prague AR is at the stage of design right now and should be introduced to the market around April 2014. After Prague, this application will be available for Paris, Rome and Munich.

During the ceremony the important topic of international cooperation was raised. This is a very important issue for Poland and other new ESA member states. By creating international consortia one could have higher chances to win a contract in the agency. Cross-border projects are also important, especially in such cases as land survey, pollution monitoring and Earth Observation. These actions could provide better links between small and medium enterprises and foster dialogue between societies.

Kosmonauta.net with its concept MedView AR – Galileo dependent, location aware, intelligent, dynamic networking for augmented reality devices in rescue applications, scored a fourth place and gathered some professional interest. This might have a positive impact on Polish-Czech commercial relations in the nearest future.
