The European Space Policy Institute in Vienna organises a workshop dedicated to the enlargement of the European Space Agency. This event will take place on the 23rd of March 2012. Kosmonauta.net’s representative will be present at this workshop.

Over next few years, several countries from Central Europe and the Baltic region should join the European Space Agency (ESA). Among them there is also Poland, which is negotiating the accession terms since November 2011. A few years from now, ESA might be composed of as much as 29 countries, which is ten more than today.

The integration process with ESA might be a difficult task. Most of the future members currently do not have a developed space sector or a long-term space policy. It is also probable that ESA will have to adapt its short and long-term strategies according to the needs and limitations of the new members, so that the space industry in these countries will have a chance to develop.

On the 23rd of March 2012 a workshop dedicated to these issues will be held at the European Space Policy Institute in Vienna. Representatives from countries, which recently joined ESA (the Czech Republic and Romania) as well as negotiating ones (Poland) or those at various stages of cooperation (e.g. Estonia, Slovenia, Lithuania) will be present. In addition, ESA will be represented by experts from integration projects.

The aim of this workshop is to present and discuss the current situation in countries undergoing integration with ESA and to analyze the possible development scenarios. The workshop will conclude in “round-table” discussions.

Kosmonauta.net’s representative, Krzysztof Kanawka will be present at this workshop.
